Kristin Powers eats, sleeps and breathes design. Every aspect of it, from print and web work to art direction and photography. Kristin is a 2009 graduate of the New England School of Art and Design at Suffolk University, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations, graduating with honors. Her majors were as widely varied as her interests.

An equestrian of nearly 20 years, Kristin's dedication to all things equine has been a driving force in her life. She began riding at age 7, and several years ago became a Massachusetts Licensed Riding Instructor. Life at the barn taught her determination, the value of hard work, and that patience is so much more then a virtue. All of these have translated into her blossoming career as a graphic designer.

Kristin also learned valuable life skills as a United States Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (USAFROTC) cadet. Rigorous physical training, impeccable attention to detail, and strict discipline became a part of daily life, even when in civilian clothes. The most challenging experience to date, ROTC helped her to realize that no obstacle is too big, no problem is too complicated, and that anything can be done.

In 2006, Kristin began a freelance graphic design, web design and photography business, called "illusory studios". Her work ranged from branding identities for businesses and building websites to wedding photography and illustration; in early 2009, Kristin rebranded "illusory studios" to "Powers for Hire."

Kristin has worked with a variety of clients and businesses, from small to large, and in several different industries. Previous clients include Media Monster, LLC in Beverly, MA and Burkland Farm in Rowley, MA. She currently has a long-standing relationship with Pilgrim Hall Museum in Plymouth, MA, an American Association of Museums-accredited institution, where she designed the exhibit pieces for the major temporary exhibit "The Dutch Connection." She is looking forward to designing future exhibits in addition to artifact catalogs and historical brochures.

Currently, Kristin is seeking full-time employment, but is also available for freelance design work in a variety of areas. Download a PDF version of her resume here.
